Royal Air Force Hawk T2 Crash

An RAF Hawk T2 advanced jet trainer crashed in a field near the village of Pencarnisiog, Anglesey, on the afternoon of 23 September 2026, moments after taking off from RAF Valley. Witnesses reported flames from the aircraft during take-off, and video footage showed it pitching up and shaking violently before both crew ejected; the unoccupied jet then struck the ground and exploded. North Wales Police said the two pilots were being treated for what were thought to be minor injuries, with no other casualties or wider damage reported. Rail services between Bangor and Holyhead were suspended during the emergency response. RAF Valley is home to No. 4 Flying Training School, which trains fast-jet aircrew on the Hawk T2. An investigation is underway.
