Description
An Mi-8AMTSh, registration RF-90301, made an emergency landing on a highway in the Dolinsky District of Sakhalin Oblast on 2 September 2026 after both engines shut down from fuel exhaustion, roughly five kilometres short of its destination airfield. The helicopter was returning from Cape Patience, where it had supported early voting for the State Duma elections, carrying three crew, a regional election commission official and four television journalists. The crew steered it away from traffic and it came to rest on its side in a roadside ditch. Everyone aboard escaped with bruises and scratches; the airframe was not reported as written off.
