Finnish Air Force F-35 Lightning II Delivered

Two more F-35A Lightning II fighters, JF-509 and JF-511, landed at the Lapland Air Wing in Rovaniemi at 5:56 pm on 23 October 2026, the Finnish Air Force said, bringing the number of Finnish F-35s in the country to four. JF-509 left Lockheed Martin's Fort Worth plant on 20 October and staged through Lajes Air Base in the Azores, where it was joined by JF-511, which Defence Industry Europe reported had been held there since September by a minor avionics fault. The pair follows JF-510 and JF-512, which arrived on 18 September. Finland has ordered 64 F-35As, which will first equip the Lapland Air Wing.
