Description
The Dongfeng DF-11, also designated M-11 and CSS-7, is a Chinese road-mobile short-range ballistic missile. Development began in 1984, and the system entered service with the PLA Second Artillery Corps in 1992. US intelligence reported that the system was exported to Pakistan.
Unlike earlier liquid-fueled Chinese ballistic missiles such as the DF-5, the DF-11 uses solid fuel, which reduces pre-launch preparation time. The missile is operated from a road-mobile launch vehicle. Upgraded variants include the DF-11A, which features extended range, the DF-11B, and the DF-11AZT, a bunker-buster variant designed with improved accuracy. The system is widely deployed in Chinese service.
