Southern Naval Base (Південна військово-морська база)

Southern Naval Base was the Ukrainian Navy's base at Novoozerne, part of the Yevpatoria municipality, on Donuzlav Bay in western Crimea. Two sandspits separate the bay from the Black Sea, and a freight terminal of the Yevpatoria commercial port works the same water. The site is no longer in Ukrainian hands.

Ukraine stationed there the corvette Vinnytsia, the minesweepers Chernigov, Cherkasy and Genichesk, the medium landing ship Kirovograd and the large landing ship Konstantin Olshansky, together with a fire boat, a transport, two tugs, a patrol boat and a torpedo boat.

Ukraine established the base in 1996 on the site of the Soviet Crimean Naval Base, which had occupied the whole southern shore of Donuzlav Bay and comprised hovercraft berths, a submarine base and the Donuzlav air station. Most of that installation has since been dismantled and the air station is not operational. Ukrainian use ended in March 2014, when Black Sea Fleet ships sank blockships across the entrance of the bay and the squadron inside surrendered.
