Zuoying Naval Base (海軍左營基地)

Zuoying Naval Base, in the Zuoying district of Kaohsiung on the south-west coast of Taiwan, is the largest base of the Republic of China Navy. The installation takes in the Zuoying Naval Airfield and the Zuoying Naval Yard, and the Republic of China Marine Corps runs the training programme of its Amphibious Reconnaissance and Patrol Unit there.

The site became a naval installation in 1943, when the command centre of the Japanese garrison office moved to Zuoying from Magong in the Penghu Islands, whose facilities were later heavily damaged in air raids. The government began a large expansion of the base in 2017 under the Weihai Project, budgeted at more than a billion US dollars. In 2025 Taiwan signed an agreement with the United States to conduct training at Zuoying.
