Colombian National Navy

The Colombian Navy, officially known as the Armada Nacional de la República de Colombia, is the naval branch of Colombia's military forces. Its responsibilities extend to ensuring security and defense in the Colombian zones of both the Atlantic (Caribbean) and Pacific oceans, as well as a vast network of rivers inside the country and some small land areas under its direct jurisdiction.

The Navy's mission includes contributing to the defense of the nation through effective use of naval power in maritime, river, and land spaces, fulfilling its constitutional role, participating in the development of sea power, and protecting Colombian interests. Its strategic objectives encompass the protection of population and resources, consolidation of territorial control, neutralization of illegal drug trafficking, strategic deterrence, and ensuring maritime and riverine safety.

Historically, the Colombian Navy's motto has been "Plus Ultra" (Latin for "further beyond"), but in recent years, it has adopted the more relatable slogan "Protecting the blue of our flag" (Spanish: Protegemos el azul de la bandera), especially after a public media campaign in the 2000s. Its previous slogan was "Sailing our pride" (Spanish: Navega nuestro orgullo).

The Colombian Navy operates with eight specialized forces or commands across the territory. These include the Marine Infantry Command, Naval Force of the Pacific, Naval Force of the Caribbean, Naval Force of the South, Naval Force of the East, Comando de Guardacostas (Coast Guard Command), Navy Aviation Command, and the Specific Command of San Andres y Providencia.

Furthermore, the Navy maintains three major training schools for its personnel, namely the Naval Academy, Navy NCO School, and the Marine Infantry Basic School, along with 12 other post-graduate schools aimed at enhancing the capacities and personnel of the various naval services and the Marine Corps.

The Navy also maintains several major bases in both the Caribbean and Pacific littorals, as well as multiple operational riverine bases scattered across the territory, including Naval Base ARC Bolívar, Naval Base ARC Bahía Málaga, Naval Base ARC Leguízamo, Naval Base ARC San Andrés, and Naval Base ARC Puerto Carreño.
