Description
COTECMAR handed over the ocean patrol vessel ARC 24 de Julio to the Colombian Navy on 31 January 2026 at Naval Base ARC Bolivar in Cartagena, and the ship was formally christened and commissioned there on 27 March 2026. At 93 metres and roughly 2,000 tonnes, she is the largest warship ever designed and built entirely in Colombia, using over 1,070 tonnes of steel and some 90 kilometres of cabling. Built at the Mamonal yard over about two and a half years from March 2023, she is the lead unit of the POC (Patrullero Oceanico Colombiano) class, initially designated OPV-93C/E, and carries a flight deck for medium helicopters.
