Description
The Royal Netherlands Navy decommissioned the submarine HNLMS Walrus (S802) at a ceremony in Den Helder on 12 October 2023, according to Janes and the Dutch maritime news site Marineschepen.nl. Walrus entered service in 1992 as the lead boat of the four-boat Walrus class and was the first of the class to leave service. Baird Maritime later reported that the Ministry of Defence stripped usable components from her to keep the remaining submarines operational.
