Description
RSS Invincible was commissioned together with her sister RSS Impeccable at RSS Singapura β Changi Naval Base on 24 September 2024, in a ceremony officiated by Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Janes and Baird Maritime reported. The two boats were the first of the Invincible class, the Type 218SG design built by thyssenkrupp Marine Systems in Kiel under contracts signed in 2013 and 2017. Derived from the Type 214 with features of the Type 212, the 70-metre submarines use air-independent propulsion and replace the Republic of Singapore Navy's ex-Swedish Challenger and Archer classes.
