Description
INS Arnala was commissioned at Naval Dockyard Visakhapatnam on 18 June 2025, the first of sixteen anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft ordered by the Indian Navy. Built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers in partnership with L&T Shipbuilding, the 77-metre vessel displaces about 1,490 tonnes and is designed for coastal anti-submarine operations, low-intensity maritime tasks and mine laying. She is the largest Indian warship propelled by a diesel engine-waterjet combination, and replaces the retired Abhay-class corvettes in the shallow-water ASW role.
