Spain Navy Mahón Sunk

The decommissioned tug Mahón was sunk as a target south of the Canary Islands during the Spanish Navy's Sinkex 25 live-fire exercise on 15 and 16 June 2025, Libertad Digital and Puente de Mando reported. After missile, gun and air strikes, the submarine Isaac Peral (S-81) fired her first live heavyweight torpedo at the hulk, the Navy said, a step towards the boat's operational certification. Frigates, the Juan Carlos I and Spanish Air and Space Force jets also took part. Mahón had been decommissioned at Ferrol in May 2024 after 43 years of service.
