United States Navy USNS Point Loma Delivered

The U.S. Navy accepted delivery of USNS Point Loma (T-EPF-15) from Austal USA at Mobile, Alabama, on 24 June 2025, Naval Today reported. The second Spearhead-class expeditionary fast transport built to the Flight II configuration, Point Loma adds enhanced trauma and surgical medical capability to the fleet, an upgraded capacity for V-22 flight operations and the ability to launch and recover 11-metre rigid-hull inflatable boats. Named after the coastal community in San Diego, she is the second Navy ship to bear the name and joins Military Sealift Command's fleet of high-speed aluminium catamarans used for intra-theatre transport of troops, vehicles and equipment.
