Description
The Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG-58) was decommissioned on September 25, 2025, at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, after 36 years of service. Commissioned in 1989, the cruiser served extensively in carrier strike groups and conducted operations in the Persian Gulf, Mediterranean, and Western Pacific. Philippine Sea was among the first Aegis-equipped cruisers to deploy the Baseline 9 combat system upgrade. The decommissioning is part of the Navy ongoing divestiture of aging Ticonderoga-class cruisers.
