Norway Navy ex-KNM Trondheim Sunk

The decommissioned Oslo-class frigate ex-KNM Trondheim was sunk as a target in September 2025 off Andøya in northern Norway during the NATO exercise Ægir 25, High North News and Forces News reported. Naval Strike Missiles with inert warheads fired by HMS Somerset, the Norwegian frigate Thor Heyerdahl and Polish forces passed through the container-built superstructure before a torpedo from the Ula-class submarine KNM Uthaug detonated under the hull and broke the ship in two, according to Norwegian Armed Forces video described by Forces News. The wreck lies in about 2,200 metres of water. Trondheim had survived a missile test in 2013; the sinking removed no hull from the current fleet.
