Description
The Royal Netherlands Navy formally commissioned the combat support ship HNLMS Den Helder at her namesake port in October 2025, some months after handover from Damen. The 179-metre, 20,000-tonne vessel restores an at-sea replenishment capability the fleet had lacked for years and can also support amphibious operations, humanitarian relief and helicopter tasking. She carries two 40-tonne cranes, up to 24 containers and two NH90 helicopters, with accommodation for 76 crew plus 80 additional personnel. Warm-weather trials in the Caribbean followed, with full operational capability planned for 2026.
