Description
Ukraine's Special Operations Forces (SSO) said their drones struck the Buyan-M-class corvette Grad on Lake Onega in the Republic of Karelia on 4 October 2025, as the ship transited the inland waterway from the Baltic Sea toward the Caspian Sea, Maritime Executive and Baird Maritime reported. According to the SSO, a drone hit the starboard side near the engine compartment and left the corvette without manoeuvrability; Russia did not comment and the claim was not independently verified. The strike site lies roughly 960 km north of the Ukrainian border. Grad, one of the newest Project 21631 ships, joined the Baltic Fleet in December 2022.
