Description
Commissioned in November 2025 as one of four sixth-batch Type 054A frigates to enter service that year, alongside Fuyang, Yuxi and Linfen. Launched at Huangpu Wenchong in August 2024, Ordos carries the batch 100 mm H/PJ-87 main gun, lengthened hull and enlarged hangar for the Z-20F helicopter. Chinese state media released the vessel crest and formally announced the commissioning in February 2026, a pattern of delayed public confirmation common to recent PLA Navy inductions. The name honours the city of Ordos in Inner Mongolia.
