Iran Navy IRIS Shahid Mahdavi Destroyed

IRGCN converted container ship and drone carrier destroyed at Bandar Abbas roads on 1 March 2026 during the opening phase of Operation Epic Fury. Originally the Panamax container ship Sarvin, Shahid Mahdavi was converted at ISOICO shipyard and recommissioned in March 2023 as the IRGCN's largest warship at 36,000 tonnes and 240 metres. Armed with Qadr-474 cruise missiles and Zolfaghar anti-ship ballistic missiles, the vessel served as a floating missile and drone platform for long-range IRGCN operations. She had recently participated in the BRICS Will for Peace exercise off South Africa in January 2026.
