Description
The Henry J. Kaiser-class fleet replenishment oiler USNS Big Horn (T-AO 198) was inactivated on 31 March 2026 under the Navy's fiscal 2026 retirement plan and transferred to the Maritime Administration for long-term custody and eventual disposal. She was one of thirteen warships and support ships slated for inactivation that year, and one of three Kaiser-class oilers withdrawn from Military Sealift Command service. Big Horn had grounded and flooded off Oman in September 2024 while supporting carrier operations in the Middle East, an incident that left the region temporarily without a dedicated oiler.
