Iran Navy IRIS Fateh Sunk

Iran's sole Fateh-class coastal submarine was sunk near Bandar Abbas during Operation Epic Fury. CENTCOM released video on March 3, 2026, confirming the submarine had been destroyed, with the CENTCOM commander stating it was "the most operational Iranian submarine" and now "has a hole in its side." The indigenously designed Fateh class, displacing around 600 tonnes submerged, entered service in 2019 and represented Iran's most advanced domestically built submarine. Its loss leaves Iran reliant on three aging Russian-built Kilo-class boats.
