Description
Third Arihant-class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, commissioned at Visakhapatnam on 3 April 2026 by the Indian Defence Minister. Built under the Advanced Technology Vessel programme at the Ship Building Centre, INS Aridhaman displaces approximately 7,000 tonnes submerged and features eight vertical launch tubes — double the capacity of lead ship INS Arihant — capable of carrying up to eight K-4 missiles with a 3,500 km range or 24 K-15 Sagarika missiles. With roughly 85 percent indigenous content, her commissioning gives India three operational SSBNs, enabling continuous at-sea deterrent patrols for the first time.
