Description
Commissioned on 30 April 2026 in a ceremony at Sanya, China, attended by President Asif Ali Zardari and the Chief of the Naval Staff. PNS Hangor is the lead boat of an eight-submarine programme ordered from China in 2015, with the first four built by China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation in China and the remaining four to be assembled by Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works in Pakistan. The Hangor class is an export derivative of the Type 039A Yuan-class, displacing 2,800 tonnes at 76 metres long with Stirling-cycle air-independent propulsion, torpedoes, anti-ship and cruise missiles, and a submerged endurance of around 65 days.
