Description

A fire broke out aboard the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69) on 14 April 2026 while the ship was undergoing scheduled maintenance at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Virginia. The blaze was quickly brought under control by the ship's crew working alongside shipyard personnel. Three sailors sustained minor injuries, were treated by the onboard medical team and returned to duty shortly afterwards. The carrier had been docked since early 2025 for her maintenance availability. The incident came roughly a month after a separate non-combat fire aboard USS Gerald R. Ford while operating in the Red Sea.
