Description
BAE Jambeli (MP-56), formerly Korean Coast Guard vessel KCG-3001, commissioned at Puerto Bolívar on 7 May 2026 in a ceremony attended by President Daniel Noboa and presided over by Commander General Admiral Ricardo Unda Serrano. Transferred to Ecuador as a donation by the Republic of Korea, she departed Incheon on 2 January 2026 and completed a 62-day transoceanic voyage. The Tae Pyung Yang-class offshore patrol vessel displaces approximately 4,000 tonnes and becomes Ecuador's largest warship and first multi-purpose OPV. Primary missions include counter-narcotics operations, EEZ surveillance, Galapagos Islands protection, and maritime search and rescue.
