Description
JS Natori (FFM-9) was delivered and commissioned at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Nagasaki Shipyard on 21 May 2026, becoming the ninth ship of the Mogami class (30FFM) in service with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force. Laid down in July 2023 and launched in June 2024, Natori was assigned to JMSDF Ōminato Naval Base in Aomori Prefecture. Displacing 3,900 tonnes standard and armed with Type 17 anti-ship missiles, SeaRAM, and a 16-cell Mk-41 VLS for Type 03 SAMs, she is among the first Mogami-class ships to have the Mk-41 installed from the outset of construction. Construction cost was approximately ¥54.1 billion.
