Delivered to the Republic of Korea Navy by SK Oceanplant at Goseong, South Gyeongsang Province, on 19 June 2026, ahead of the original end-June schedule. Gyeongbuk is the second 3,600-tonne FFX Batch-III (Chungnam-class) frigate, following lead ship Chungnam delivered in December 2024. The 129-metre frigate carries a domestically developed multifunction phased-array radar providing 360-degree detection, a 5-inch gun, the Korean Vertical Launching System, K-SAAM interceptors, C-Star anti-ship missiles, Sea Dragon land-attack missiles and Red Shark anti-submarine rockets. She will undergo about six months of operational readiness training before entering service.
