Poland Navy Blekinge-class Ordered

Poland signed a firm contract with Sweden's Saab on 29 June 2026 for three A26 Blekinge-class submarines under the Orka programme, worth roughly SEK 47 billion (about $4.8 billion), with deliveries expected from the early 2030s. The deal includes a weapons package and a training and support arrangement, and formal submariner training began at Karlskrona in August 2026. As a bridge to the new boats, Poland is separately leasing the Swedish Södermanland-class submarine HMS Södermanland, confirmed on 2 June 2026, expected to be handed over in 2027 and to serve until the first A26 enters Polish service.
