United States Navy USNS VADM K.R. Wheeler Retired

Inactivated on 1 July 2026 under the U.S. Navy's fiscal year 2026 inactivation plan. VADM K.R. Wheeler, an offshore petroleum distribution system ship operated by Military Sealift Command, entered service in 2006 and was designed to pump fuel from tankers offshore to forces ashore where port facilities are unavailable or damaged. The vessel spent most of her career supporting prepositioning operations in the Western Pacific. Her retirement the same day as sealift ship USNS Watkins forms part of a 13-ship drawdown announced by the Navy for fiscal 2026.
