Description
Inactivated on 31 July 2026 under the U.S. Navy fiscal year 2026 ship inactivation schedule. A Henry J. Kaiser-class fleet replenishment oiler operated by Military Sealift Command, Pecos entered service in 1989 and supported Operation Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom in the Persian Gulf. She deployed alongside the hospital ship USNS Mercy in 2006 and delivered more than 2.3 million gallons of fuel across nine underway replenishments during Operation Tomodachi after the 2011 Japan earthquake and tsunami. The ship transfers to the Maritime Administration, part of a 13-ship drawdown during fiscal 2026.
