Description
Commissioned into the Royal Australian Navy at HMAS Cairns, Queensland, on 27 August 2026 in a dual ceremony with sister ship Cape Hawke, taking the number of commissioned Evolved Cape-class patrol boats to eight alongside Cape Schanck, Cape Solander, Cape Pillar, Cape Naturaliste, Cape Woolamai and Cape Capricorn. Built by Austal at Henderson in Western Australia, the 58.1-metre design offers greater endurance, a range beyond 4,000 nautical miles and improved accommodation that lets crews remain at sea longer. The class covers border protection, maritime constabulary operations, law-enforcement support and international engagement. All boats are named after prominent capes on the Australian coastline.
