Description
Decommissioned at a naval port in Qingdao, Shandong province, on the morning of 28 August 2026 after 32 years in service; the decommissioning order was read at 9 a.m. and the bow flags lowered for the last time. Lead ship of the Type 052 Luhu class and the first of China's second-generation domestically built guided-missile destroyers, Harbin was launched at Jiangnan Shipyard in August 1991 and commissioned in May 1994. The navy credits her with more than 100 major readiness tasks, over 400,000 nautical miles steamed, calls at 22 ports in 20 countries and 17 exercises with foreign navies. The 4,800-tonne hull will be preserved at Changsha as a national defence education site.
