Russia Navy Admiral Makarov Damaged

Damaged during the night of 8-9 September 2026 in the combined Ukrainian missile and drone strike on the Novorossiysk naval base. The Ukrainian Navy initially announced a hit only on the frigate Admiral Essen; satellite imagery published the following day by the Exilenova+ open-source group, and analysed by Naval News, showed that Admiral Makarov and a Buyan-M corvette had also been struck. Naval News reported that both frigates had sustained moderate to severe damage to their forward sections near the vertical launch cell banks and forward superstructure, damage it assessed as likely to deprive them of both surface-to-air and surface-to-surface missile fire. It was the frigate's fourth recorded hit of 2026.
