Description
Severely damaged during the night of 8-9 September 2026 in the combined Ukrainian strike on the Novorossiysk naval base, in which Ukraine used its Long Neptune cruise missile against ships for the first time. Satellite imagery published by the Exilenova+ open-source group and analysed by Naval News showed the heaviest damage of the three vessels hit aboard the Buyan-M: according to that analysis, everything aft of the superstructure, including the vertical launch cell bank, showed extensive fire damage and severe structural collapse, with debris scattered over the stern. Sources did not identify the hull. The class carries the Kalibr cruise missiles fired at Ukraine from the Black Sea and the Caspian. Russia issued no statement.
