Description
A Republic of Korea Air Force F-5E crashed into a mountain at Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, about 40 km south of Seoul on 11 January 2022, shortly after taking off from Suwon. The sole pilot was killed. The air force said, as reported by Malay Mail, that an engine fire warning came on shortly after takeoff at about 1:44 p.m. and that the crash was apparently due to engine failure. The cause remained under investigation. The accident came a week after an F-35A belly landing at Seosan Air Base.
