Description
A Myanmar Air Force jet crashed into Yay Myet Gyi lake in Sagaing Region on 16 February 2022, killing its pilot. According to a statement from the military authorities, reported by AFP, the aircraft lost contact at 10:43 a.m. after leaving Tada-U air base near Mandalay on a non-combat training flight, and the crash was blamed on a technical failure. The government statement did not name the type; the Aviation Safety Network record identifies it as a Nanchang A-5 Fantan. The area is a conflict zone, but the junta described the flight as training.
