An Algerian Air Force MiG-29 crashed just after takeoff from Bousfer air base in the Oran region on the evening of 28 March 2022. According to a defence ministry statement quoted by Algerie Eco, the aircraft was on a planned training flight and went down because of a technical fault. Both crew ejected, but the commander later died of his injuries at a military hospital in Oran. The army chief of staff ordered an inquiry; AFP also reported the pilot's death.
