Description
An Indian Air Force Mirage 2000 crashed in Morena district, Madhya Pradesh, during an operational training mission flown alongside a Su-30MKI, both aircraft having taken off from Gwalior. The Mirage pilot was killed. Wreckage from the two aircraft was found in the same area and investigators examined whether they had collided in mid-air, though no collision was formally confirmed at the time. The Mirage 2000 has served as one of India's principal multirole fighters since the mid-1980s and was used in the 2019 Balakot strike; the surviving fleet was being upgraded to extend its service into the 2030s.
