Description
The Turkish Ministry of National Defence said a Turkish Air Force C-130 came under small-arms fire while approaching Wadi Sayidna Air Base north of Omdurman during a mission to evacuate civilians from Sudan, and that the aircraft landed safely with no injuries among those aboard. Sudan's army gave a different account, saying a crew member had been wounded and the aircraft's fuel system damaged, and blamed the Rapid Support Forces; the paramilitary force denied firing on the aircraft. Wadi Sayidna was the main airhead for foreign evacuation flights after fighting closed Khartoum's international airport.
