Finnish Air Force Hawk 51/66 Crash

A Finnish Air Force Hawk trainer crashed in a wooded area south of Keuruu, in central Finland, during a training flight. Both pilots ejected and were taken to hospital for assessment, and no one on the ground was hurt. The Finnish Air Force suspended Hawk flying while investigators secured the wreckage and examined the accident. The Hawk carries the whole of the service's jet training syllabus, taking student pilots from basic jet handling through to the tactical phase before they convert to the F/A-18 Hornet, and Finland operates a fleet assembled from British and Swiss airframes.
