A United States Army MH-47 Chinook made a hard landing while arriving at a staging base in northeastern Syria after developing a rotor problem. The Pentagon initially said 22 service members were injured and ten were evacuated from the region, then corrected the account the following day, putting the number evacuated at fifteen and confirming that the mishap happened on landing rather than on takeoff. All those hurt were reported in stable condition and officials said no enemy fire was involved. The helicopter was damaged and no airframe loss was announced.
