Description
A Mexican Air Force Mi-17 crashed inside a military training area at Temamatla, in the State of Mexico, and caught fire. Two service members were killed and two others were hospitalised; the crew was reported to have lost control during a training mission, and military authorities opened an investigation without announcing an initial cause. The Mi-8 and Mi-17 family provides the heavy-lift backbone of Mexican military aviation, flying troop movement, disaster relief and counter-narcotics support, and the type has operated from the central highland bases around Mexico City for decades in demanding high-altitude conditions.
