Description
A Royal Jordanian Air Force AH-1F Cobra crashed at Al-Baqa'a, north of Amman, during a training mission. Jordan's military initially said both pilots had been taken to hospital in moderate condition; one later died of his injuries while the second remained under treatment, and the armed forces opened an investigation into the cause. Jordan has operated the AH-1 Cobra since the 1980s, and the fleet, enlarged by transfers from the United States and Israel, remains the kingdom's principal armed helicopter for border surveillance and close support along its northern and eastern frontiers.
