Description
Two Colombian Aerospace Force T-27 Tucano trainers collided near Apiay Air Base at Villavicencio while rehearsing for a public aviation display. One aircraft crashed and its pilot was killed; the second landed safely and its pilot was unhurt. Video of the accident showed the moment of contact and one aircraft descending in flames, and the air force opened an investigation into the formation sequence. The T-27, a licence-built EMB-312, is the Colombian service's basic trainer and light attack aircraft, and Apiay is one of the principal bases from which it operates over the eastern plains.
