Description
A Russian Air Force L-39 trainer crashed while approaching an airfield in Krasnodar Krai during a scheduled training flight, coming down within the airfield area. Russia's Defence Ministry said one crew member was killed. Authorities opened an investigation but did not announce an initial cause. It was the second fatal Russian military training accident in three days, following the loss of a Su-30 over Kaliningrad. The Czechoslovak-built L-39 Albatros remains the standard jet trainer of the Russian air arm, and Krasnodar hosts the service's principal flying school for pilot instruction.
