Description
A United States Air Force UH-1N assigned to the 37th Helicopter Squadron crashed during a training landing at Cheyenne Regional Airport in Wyoming. Two military crew members and a civilian flight instructor were aboard; all three survived with non-serious injuries, and the aircraft was destroyed. The Air Force investigation found that an unrecognised loss of tail-rotor effectiveness led to an unrecoverable yaw close to the ground, with delayed corrective action contributing. The squadron flies from F.E. Warren Air Force Base in support of the intercontinental ballistic missile field, carrying security teams and maintenance crews across the missile complex.
