Nigerian Air Force T129 Delivered

The first two of six T129 ATAK attack helicopters ordered from Turkish Aerospace Industries arrived at the Nigerian Air Force Tactical Air Command headquarters at Makurdi, Benue State, aboard a Turkish Air Force A400M transport. The order had been signed in 2022, and Nigerian aircrew and technicians had trained in Turkey earlier in the year. The pair were formally inducted into service in February 2024 and assigned to the 115th Special Operations Group at Port Harcourt for counter-insurgency work in the north-east and against armed banditry. The remaining aircraft were expected to follow through the first half of 2024.
