Nigerian Air Force Mi-24/35 Damaged

A Nigerian Air Force Mi-35P came down shortly after taking off from Port Harcourt at about 07:45 on a mission against crude oil theft in Rivers State. The air force said all five crew members survived with minor injuries and were treated at the service medical centre in Port Harcourt, and that an investigation into the circumstances had been opened. No assessment of the damage to the airframe was published. The Mi-35P is the export attack variant of the Mi-24, used by the Nigerian Air Force for armed reconnaissance and close air support against insurgents and oil-theft networks in the Niger Delta.
