Description
A United States Marine Corps CH-53E struck mountainous terrain near Pine Valley during a night return flight to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. The Marine Corps said all five Marines aboard were killed. The helicopter had departed Creech Air Force Base after training. A later investigation cited weather, reduced visibility through night-vision goggles, and crew decision-making among the contributing factors.
