Description
A Brazilian Army HM-1A Pantera, serial EB-2023, of the 4th Army Aviation Battalion (4ΒΊ BAvEx) made an emergency landing near the Surucucu border platoon base in Roraima, inside the Yanomami Indigenous Territory, while distributing food supplies under Operation Catrimani, according to Tecnodefesa. The five occupants, two pilots, two Army flight mechanics and an employee of the indigenous affairs agency FUNAI, were rescued alive and given medical care, the Army said. Photographs showed severe structural damage to the airframe. The Amazon Military Command said it had taken measures to support the victims and that an aviation accident investigation team would examine the causes.
